At Aspen Service Dogs, our programs are designed to create confident, capable service teams that meet Alberta’s government standards. Whether you’re seeking a professionally trained partner or want to be part of the training journey yourself, our goal is the same: to build life changing independence, one partnership at a time.
Aspen’s professional trainers carefully select, raise, and prepare each dog from puppyhood through full certification. Every dog is trained to meet the Alberta Government’s Service Dog Qualification standards, developing reliable skills for public access, task performance, and calm behavior. Clients are matched with a dog suited to their lifestyle and needs, then receive personalized handler training to ensure a confident partnership.
For those who already have a suitable dog or wish to be deeply involved in the process. Aspen’s Owner Trained option provides mentorship, support, and step-by-step guidance through the full training journey. Our expert instructors help you train your dog to the same high standard required for provincial qualification. We will cover obedience, task work, and public behavior while building your own handler skills and confidence.
Not every dog in training is destined for full service certification but many still have incredible potential to change lives. Our Companion Dogs are those who have completed much of our training program but are better suited to providing comfort and support at home. These dogs make wonderful partners for individuals seeking emotional or mental health support without needing full public access.
Aspen Service Dogs has graduated over 130 fully certified teams across Canada and the U.S. Each represents a life changed, individuals gaining independence, families finding peace of mind, and communities made more inclusive.
